Character.AI Launched new Artificial Intelligence (AI) features like AvatarFX, Video generation and Social Feed to its Chatbot.

The California-based AI company said it is introducing new ways to let users interact and engage with the characters on the platform. Among them is a new image-to-video generation tool that allows users to create videos of their characters. To enable users to share all of this content with others, the platform has introduced a new Community Feed. Some of these features have already rolled out, while others will be added in the near future.

Character.AI Unveils Scenes, Screen, and AvatarFX

Character.AI’s latest update is AvatarFX, a cutting-edge tool that transforms static images into dynamic, lifelike videos. Leveraging a state-of-the-art diffusion transformer (DiT) model, AvatarFX enables characters to speak, sing, and emote with remarkable realism. Users can upload an image, select a voice, and input custom dialogue, resulting in animated avatars that bring stories to life.

AvatarFX can make images come to life – and speak, sing, and emote – all with the click of a button. The technology advances the state of the art with its cutting-edge capabilities, including the power to generate photorealistic videos with audio; to maintain strong temporal consistency with face, hand and body movement; to power longform video; to generate top-quality video from a pre-existing image; and even to power videos with multiple speakers and multiple turns! The company is rolling out interactive, pre-populated storylines where users can add any character and continue the story. Scenes essentially eliminate the need for the user to type out the premise of a role-playing conversation, as these are pre-defined. Users can directly jump into the story and create engaging narratives, according to the company.

They are bringing Creators tools to build and publish their own scenes, enriching Character.AI’s expansive universe. Scenes are available now on the mobile app. 

Another new feature, which is currently available on mobile, is Profile Redesign. Users can customise their profiles by adding their created characters and content, and organising them according to their preference. This feature is aimed at making creator profiles stand out to users.

Community Feed and Social Sharing.

To foster a more connected user base, Character.AI has launched a Community Feed, a scrollable interface where users can share their creations, discover content from others, and engage in discussions. This social hub encourages collaboration and inspiration, allowing users to showcase their Scenes and Streams, and to interact with a broader audience.
